Bedroom Moves

Description

This is a soundtrack that takes you from the suggestion of getting it on, and the wondering if you know how to make love to me. The moves start with kissing all over, and the beat of the Ramones remind you that love has a rhythm. Marvin Gaye again to feel that deep rich voice remind you that this is healing. Really getting into the action now with Bad Company, the rhythm again gives a background beat to your bedroom moves, and then Paul Weller's haunting song, the raunchy of Madonna inside of me. For those that like something different it can be accommodated with Jimmy reminding us how difficult it can be to love someone like you. The Beatles remind us of the hoped outcome, Ian Dury for those that fell asleep and want more in the morning, and Captain and Tenille for the greedy people who want to do it more than once. This mix works well either played straight or played on random.

My Life's Journey

Description

Well it started when I was Born to be Wild, but very soon I was sent to school to learn my ABC and within no time I was all grown up and joined the Rat Race, earned some cash to party 'cos because Friday I'm in Love. Back to reality on Monday's though - I Don't Like Monday's!
After a while I met my special someone, got it bad and arranged a Nice Day for a White Wedding. Some years later I gave birth to by lovely daughter who remains the Sunshine of my Life.
I have continued working and playing, having the Time of my Life but feel that now I'm In the Backseat having reached the dilemma at work - Should I stay or should I Go? Either way I know I Will Survive and will always remain Young at Heart.

Wild Dancing

Description

This would be a compilation mix that I would play while driving or doing activities such as ironing, housework or gardening. I couldn't play this while not moving as it would physically make me move.  I have no issues with dancing in the car.

Children of the Night, this classic happy hardcore song of the late 90s makes me feel so wild, hair flying, body bouncing with the beat. Relax, an unusual choice for a first dance at my wedding, but it holds special memories for hubby and I so we chose it, thankfully I didn't marry in a wedding dress, so could really 'relax' into the music. Should I Stay or Should I Go Now, March 1991 this was re-released and I heard it on the radio, having been contemplating leaving my first husband, this song was stuck in my head, and gave me something to hang on to when I made the choice to go.  Now I just love the guitars. Bitch, if ever a song was written to describe me it’s this, I am everything all rolled into one.

Ramp, my eldest son took me to see Scooter live at the Metro Arena I always liked the music he played but this song makes me happy.  Eldest son has a thing for all German Dance music, I like most but nothing like Scooter.  I remember dancing to this amongst a 1000 teens and young under 25s, I felt ancient as I walked in and rolled out, but when I was there 2010 I was young again, wild again, high again. All Day and All of the Night, a great 60s song that has depth and rhythm as well as words that can be heard and understood. Ever Fallin in Love with Someone, a wild song, sing as loud as you want, and the words are all so similar it’s ok if you get them wrong. This song is so fun to dance to. Heartbreaker, the voice moves me, from the album In the Heat of the Night, this album is a classic, one of the only albums I have every track of on my iPod.  It covers every mood with a hard vocal of a woman’s point of view of relationships starting ending and being trapped. Mustang Sally, starting to slow things down now, lovely mood song to still dance too. This is where my energy level is dipping, but this song, Cream, moving into a slinky style of dancing here, this song is pure filth and I love it.

Tracks

1. Nakatomi - Children of the Night

2. Frankie goes to Hollywood - Relax

3. The Clash - Should I Stay or Should I Go Now

4.  Meridith Brooks - Bitch

5. Scooter - Ramp (The Logical Song)

6. The Kinks - All Day and All of the Night

7. Buzzcocks - Ever Fallin in Love with Someone

Driving Miss Daisy

Description

This is an ironic title for a group of songs which I believe flow to the thoughts of having to drive Miss Daisy. We start with a classic song Fast Car for obvious reasons, then into a drink and a drive with Mungo Jerry before we head off to the motorway. This leads us into a road to hell which has to be followed by Highway to hell. We get out of the car and get on our bike with meatloaf and Hawkwind. The wind part of Hawkwind  led me to find ride like the wind. Next we go for a bit of a joyride and chase some cars before slowing down into the love section of the mix with the cars and followed by Roy Orbison this inspires a bit of heated foreplay steaming up the windows.

Track List

1. Fast Car – Tracey Chapman

2. In the summertime – Mungo Jerry

3. 2 4 6 8 Motorway – The Tom Robinson Band

4. Road to hell – Chris Rea

Working Day

Description

Simply a collection of songs taking me from waking up to going to sleep. I've generally chosen them for their titles, and the beat/tempo matching the ups and downs of the day - opposed to the meaning of the song (with some exceptions). A good cross section of the all the music I like. If any theme at all goes through it, it's that 90% of the bands have amazing guitar players.

Wake Up is a kick out of bed with maximum energy. Then relaxing into Breakfast At Tiffany's, getting ready for the day ahead. Chuck Berry comes in with No Particular Place To Go for the drive to work...  an excellent driving song and as much as I'd like to have 'no particular place to go' we end up at work with Rush - Working Man. If this song doesn't get you ready for a long day at work I don't know what does... and they're an amazing band with a guitarist that sounds like a wall of sound and achieves that effect better than some modern bands with 3 guitarists.

Lunch time is with Mike Oldfield - Five Miles Out - just because it's got a nice light feel to it after Rush, it clears the head...

Back to work to get Money for Nothing with the Dire Straits. Again an amazing, but sometimes under-rated guitarist. Metallica then end the day with For Whom The Bell Tolls - this just reminded me of a school bell ringing to end the day... and the song is excellent.

Then the drive home from work with Lynyrd Skynyrd. The evening starts with Does Your Mother Know by Abba because it has that nostalgic summer, long day, chill-out feel to it - and it's my favourite Abba song. Following this Guns N Roses and Racer X takes things up a notch because the day doesn't end when work does. (Racer X are an amazing technically proficient band... the guitarist was the lead guitarist in Mr Big(!) he shows what he can really do in Racer X).

The night ends with Vai and Satriani taking us to sleep with some instrumentals (I must have listened to their back catalogues 100 times over to go to sleep to - when I was single!), followed by My Bloody Valentine - Sometimes simply because it's one of the most relaxing songs I've ever heard (CKY have a song called To All of You which I believe was inspired by this, also very good)

Then we end with Metallica and one of their best songs reminding us we're just sleeping, not dead :-)

Track List

1. Wake Up - Rage Against the Machine

2. Breakfast At Tiffany's - Deep Blue Something

3. No Particular Place To Go - Chuck Berry

4. Working Man - Rush

5. Five Miles Out - Mike Oldfield

6. Money For Nothing - Dire Straits

7. For Whom The Bell Tolls - Metallica

8. Sweet Home Alabama - Lynyrd Skynyrd

Places To Rock

Description

My first compilation I am going to put up is Places to Rock, not strictly all rock songs but in their own way they all rock a little. We start with Streets of Philadelphia, a nice melodic piece from the boss man himself before moving into the weird world of Hotel California by The Eagles. When I was thinking of tracks the next obvious choice was California Dreaming,  after this I decided to rock it up a little with Sweet Home Alabama before cooling things down with Africa by Toto.  The second half of the compilation moves into pop rock starting with China in your hand and then moving into Bowie's strange world of life on mars a classic which I think is often overlooked. We climb the hill with Peter before settling in the relaxing Kingston town. The album ends with us taking a trip to New York before finishing off in love with Vienna.

Track Listing

1. Streets of Philadelphia – Bruce Springsteen

2. Hotel California – The Eagles

3. California Dreaming – Mama’s and the Papa’s

4. Sweet home Alabama – Lynyrd Skynyrd

5. Africa – Toto

6. China in your hand – T’Pau
